Montshire Museum
The Montshire Museum of Science there are many interesting science exhibits and diverse programs and activities to explore. To learn how to arrange a beautiful bouquet of flowers you can take Priscilla Clark’s class. This class will guide you on what to keep in mind when positioning your flowers and show you different ways to accentuate the colors and plants at your disposal. The free class will be held over Zoom at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb 2nd. Join the Hanover Garden Club at the Montshire Museum for the program.
The Hanover Garden Club is presenting another class by Deborah Trickett on March 2 about how to create gorgeous container gardens. Deborah is an award-winning container garden designer who will show you everything from conventional containers and what soil mixes and plants are good to unusual materials and containers that will inspire your creativity and produce very attractive final products. Her class will be on zoom at 1 pm. Register online through the Montshire Museum. Ava Art Gallery
The AVA Gallery and Art Center remains open for social distance gallery viewings and art education courses. Many adult classes are through online means but there are still some in-person classes ranging from 4-5 people available that maintain covid safety guidelines. There is an in-person woodworking class that teaches you how to use a variety of tools and layout and cut different types of wood into a variety of shapes. If you are interested in pottery there is also an in-person clay class for beginners through advanced available where you can learn how to make mugs and bowls on a potter's wheel and then glaze them and fire them in a kiln. Arthur Baking Company
To increase your skill set with baking and check out the classes at King Arthur Baking Company. Their classes are happening almost daily and are primarily virtual. Just looking at their classes is making me hungry. You can really hone your bread making skills and learn every aspect of bread baking at home, from yeast breads to sweetbreads. There are also many classes teaching you how to make delicious desserts like cream puffs and lemon bundt cake. Or, you can go the savory route and make the perfect pizza! Learning Center at the Lebanon Coop
You can learn how to cook a variety of dishes with the many classes provided by the Lebanon Co-op (learning Center is on Zoom. They have one-hour demo classes, 2-hour “cook-along” classes, and delightful wine tasting and food pairing classes. From practical knife skills to eating sustainably to making Valentine's day chocolates, the coop is there for you. This will be an excellent chance to tantalize your taste buds with new flavors. Dartmouth online courses for Adults (OSHA)
If you are looking to immerse yourself deeper into a subject it might behoove you to look into the courses offered at the Osher @Dartmouth in Hanover. It is a non-profit organization that offers educational programs year-round for Upper Valley residents. The Winter term is already underway, but the Spring Term is just around the corner starting April 5th-June 4th. It might be the perfect time to learn french. This gives you plenty of time to look through the classes and find what lights your fire, create your account and register, and anything else you need to prepare.
