Join an Outdoor Club This Summer: Meet New People And Explore The Beautiful Views Of The Upper Valley

Valley Running Club
As a member of the Upper Valley Running Club, you’ll be a part of a growing community and enjoy interactions through group runs, training, races, and other social gatherings. You’ll also have access to educational materials about running and have opportunities to volunteer at local events. The club meets twice a week for Saturday morning runs and Tuesday night track, and there are plenty of upcoming events this summer! To get involved, you can RSVP to events online and/or become a member.
According to their website, the Dartmouth Outing Club (DOC) is “the oldest and largest collegiate outing club in the country.” Founded in 1909, this club’s student and non-student member numbers are somewhere around the 3,000 mark and growing.
As a member of DOC, you’ll have access to about a dozen niche outdoor recreation clubs, group trips, outdoor safety education, public cabins, rentable outdoor gear, classes, and more. Read more about ways you can get involved online.
The Mountains are Calling Hiking Group
This
Claremont-based private hiking group has about 230 members and features group
hikes on trails and mountains throughout New England. Most members are 50-plus
years old, but it’s not a requirement. Activities vary from day hikes to
backpacking trips and are at your own pace. To inquire about involvement, you
can request membership online.
Lebanon/White River Junction Activities Group
This
outdoor group based in West Lebanon has almost 1,000 members and is centered
around the goal of meeting new people and making new friends. Besides hiking,
group activities could include any number of things, from walking, biking, and
hiking to kayaking and skiing. You can request to join this group online.
Wild About Lebanon
This local program—a collaboration between the Upper Valley Land Trust and the City of Lebanon—is all about promoting learning about and a connection to the area’s natural resources. For 15 years, the program has featured tons of community outdoor events, guided nature walks and hikes among them.
