Congratulations
to the Lebanon Rotary Club for being a pillar of support and generosity to its
community for 100 years. With a motto of “Service Above Self,” the club’s
contributions have had a lasting impact. The city is excited to announce, for
example, Harmony Park on the Lebanon Mall was made possible by the generous
donation of $55,000 from the Rotary Club of Lebanon. The park was dedicated on
May 13 and included seven permanent features including chimes, percussion, and
xylophone-like instruments. The park, which will also include benches, is in
the open mall space adjacent to Village Pizza. Renovation of Riverside Park was
also made possible due to the club’s donation of $10,700 that allowed the city
to refinish and paint the pavilion roof and provide accessible picnic tables.
The club also donated children’s library books in honor of speakers at the
Kilton Library and used its time and manpower to flood the ice rink at Pat
Walsh Park for all to enjoy in the winter.
For
a century, the Rotary Club of Lebanon has served the Upper Valley region and
the world at large. In 2019 alone, it raised more than $22,000 for the local
community and volunteered over 400 hours of time. As the city celebrates this
100-year milestone, it recognizes the countless hours of volunteer work,
fundraising efforts, and dedication that have made their contributions
possible. The club’s century-long commitment to service has helped shape
Lebanon into the thriving, caring, and vibrant community that it is today. The city
looks forward to witnessing the positive impact the Rotary will make in years
to come, including its outstanding contributions and being an exemplary partner
in building a stronger and more harmonious community.
