A new restaurant that brings a contemporary take on the classic American chophouse has opened in New London.

The Oak Room is located at 853 Pleasant Street, along the shores of Pleasant Lake, within the historic Inn at Pleasant Lake. It offers an intimate dining experience with a 70-seat dining room, an open-air patio, and a parlor for cocktails and small bites.

“This property has meant so much to generations of guests, brought together through the years over lovingly, simply prepared dishes and drinks that never run dry. In preservation of that history, The Oak Room is fashioned around grilled and prepared center-of-the-plate cuts, alongside a bounty of sides, appetizers, and hors d’oeuvres, kicked off with traditional soup or salad and bread and butter, styled in a refined setting and delivered with warmth and care,” Matthew Meidinger, Green Heart Hospitality founding partner, said in a release.

The kitchen, run by Chef Brendon Suhesky, offers classic dishes like smoked salmon, jumbo shrimp cocktail, steak tartare, roasted beet loaf with red pepper glaze, filet mignon, t-bone, Colorado leg of loin, and more. The wine menu focuses on California’s Napa and Sonoma regions and includes hits from Bordeaux and beyond.

The Oak Room is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Learn more and make a reservation here.
