Veronica Swift
Celebrated jazz vocalist tackles the Great American Songbook.
It takes a special talent to steal the spotlight from Wynton Marsalis—but Veronica Swift just can’t help but shine. Already a seasoned performer at the age of 25, Swift frequently performs as a special guest vocalist with Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and has been praised as “an adept lyrical interpreter” with “tremendous tonal command” (JazzTimes). This intimate evening features Swift in her element performing the best of the Great American Songbook along with bebop and vocalese classics.
The daughter of renowned jazz pianist Hod O’Brien and celebrated jazz singer and educator/author Stephanie Nakasian, Swift was born into the music. She began recording by the age of 9 and made her first appearance at Jazz at Lincoln Center at 11, when she performed in the Women in Jazz series. In the fall of 2015 she won second place at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition. She has performed as a guest artist with Chris Botti, Michael Feinstein, and Paquito d’Rivera. Swift also collaborates with hard-bop piano great Benny Green.
