The Naked Table Project

A sustainable, community based woodworking experience.

August 20–21th in Woodstock, VT Though we’ve held many events in the region, our workshop in Bridgewater/Woodstock, Vermont at the ShackletonThomas workshops is our flagship event. Participants come to make their tables from trees locally at the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park. We guide each table maker through preparing each of their parts, assembling them using mortise and tenon construction, and finishing them using Vermont Natural Coatings nontoxic whey-based finish. We also walk the forests of the park where they were harvested, lead by the parks forester. A demonstration will be given on low-impact horse drawn logging while in the park. This is the only event where we reserve the beautiful covered bridge in downtown Woodstock. There, we line the Naked Tables up to make a 100 foot long table. The Woodstock Farmers' Market superbly caters a 3 course meal with ingredients entirely from local farms, it’s something you don’t want to miss! Each Naked Table workshop comes includes the table, the workshop, the forest walk, a Naked Table T-shirt, and one lunch ticket to the Naked Table Locavore Lunch the following day. Additional lunch tickets are $65, and may be purchased separately through Sustainable Woodstock, who the lunch proceeds will benefit.
