Travels with Charlie
Day Hikes in Vermont to Places of Adventure
“I have lived in Vermont for 35 years, making furniture by hand. ‘Travels with Charlie’ is inspired by my desire to take a closer, deeper look into this beautiful state. I love fresh air, exercise, trees, nature, the environment, and also its human history. My longtime friend, Tim Travers, is the perfect guide and I’m excited to share this experience with our ShackletonThomas friends.” —Charles Shackleton
Join us for the perfect day hike to experience the best of Vermont. We will start the day by taking a leisurely hike through some of the most picturesque sections of the Appalachian Trail. Guided by Tim Traver — a seasoned wildlife refuge director, naturalist, guide, and traveler — you will learn about Vermont’s trees, stonewalls, vernal pools, birds, and land use history. Around noon, we will stop at a local Farm-to-Table venue for a fine lunch with a special guest speaker. To finish the day, we’ll take a short hike back to the ShackletonThomas Workshop Store where Charles Shackleton and Miranda Thomas will give a tour and illustrated talk on their life, work, and aesthetic philosophy of handmade furniture and pottery; tea and cookies are included.
With great appreciation for sustaining the natural beauty that surrounds us, we are donating 10% of the hike’s sales to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, whose mission is to ensure that the Appalachian Trail’s vast natural beauty and priceless cultural heritage can be shared and enjoyed today, tomorrow, and for centuries to come.
