Howl at the Moon: A Cold Night Full of Warm Eats this Weekend
Jan 13, 2015 01:21PM ● By Victoria PipasThe spirit of the event is one of winter beauty and enchantment. The Dartmouth Course will be lit with fire pits and torches, warming you as you approach and guiding your way to the next food station. Travel around the circuit as many times as you like, and then finish in the warmth of the Dartmouth Outing Club House on Occom Pond. Your kids will love the “free-range” snacks everywhere and the magic of the beautiful golf course at night. Wear your snowshoes for an authentic Nordic adventure!
Piping
hot food will be sure to warm you on your journey beneath the moon.
Participating restaurants set up tents and dish out seemingly endless supplies
of their specialties. You can enjoy hot Everything But Anchovies pizza, steaming bowls of gourmet
soup from The Hanover Inn, exotic Boloco wraps, and thick chili from Murphy's on the Green. Wash all that down with some of Lou's Restaurant & Bakery renowned hot chocolate, and
then head inside for a cold treat—Ben and Jerry’s ice cream! Despite
wind-whipped cheeks and frosty fingers, you won’t be able to resist this
classic end to a Howl at the Moon feast. At the dessert station, Spare Parts, a
local band, will serenade all howlers by the fire in the DOC House. This event
encapsulates the outdoor-loving, adventure-seeking, and community-based spirit
of Upper Valley residents.
Tickets can be purchased for $15 at the Dartmouth Cross Country Center in the DOC House on Occom Pond (children 5 and under participate for free). The Center is open Tuesday to Friday, 9 to 6, and Saturday and Sunday, 9 to 5, and the number is (603) 643-6534. A limited number of tickets will be sold, so purchase yours soon!
