Looking for something the whole family can do together? Brent Christensen has created an acre-sized Ice Castle in Lincoln, NH. The castle, one of four in the country, features a unique layout with archways, tunnels, an ice slide and glacial waterfalls that light up at night with colored lights. Other locations include Stratton VT, Midway UT, and Eden Prairie, MN. The Utah-based Ice Castle Entertainment Company created this masterpiece next to the Hobo and Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroads.

Brent Christensen started the company after spending several winters building slides and frozen towers as a child in his backyard. Eventually, he approached several ski areas about building more elaborate structures as a temporary art installation and tourist attraction.

All handmade, the unique construction process involves several sprinkler systems that spray water onto metal racks to produce thousands of icicles. They grow more than 5,000 icicles each day. Those icicles are then harvested and stuck to the ground around the sprinkler heads, where they are drenched in water and grow in various shapes and sizes.

Admission prices in Lincoln range from $6.95 for children and weekdays to $12.95 for adults on weekends. The Ice Castle is running from January 9th to March, 2015.
