VINS Hosts the King Arthur Flour Bake Truck To Raise Awareness for Hunger
Aug 09, 2015 04:39PM ● By Kirsten GehlbachSince the Bake Truck went on the road in July 2014, it has made over 50 stops in 15 states and has raised over $10,000 in donations. On Sunday, August 16, Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) will host the Bake Truck from 1 to 4pm. A delicious chocolate chip oatmeal cookie will be included with every admission fee to the VINS Nature Center.
King Arthur Flour also offers a kids’ program that has been traveling the country for the last 25 years. Students learn how to bake bread and are given the ingredients to bring home. Then they donate their baked goods to a local service organization or to members of their community.
“We believe baking and doing good go hand in hand,” says Julie Christopher, King Arthur Flour’s marketing program manager. “The Bake Truck’s goal is to give back to communities we visit and share with those who visit what our company is all about.”
Celebrating its 225th anniversary, King Arthur Flour is America’s oldest flour company and premier baking resource, offering ingredients, mixes, tools, recipes, educational opportunities, and inspiration to bakers everywhere since 1790.
