Their mission: "Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center provides the highest level of innovative, compassionate care for our patients, and contributes to solving the problems of cancer worldwide through research, new treatments, clinical trials, prevention, and community engagement."Ways to help: There are plenty of ways your can participate in helping out this organization. From cancer care, science & research, prevention & education, as well as, donors and volunteers. As in many years past there's also a group of 10 participants who leave the day after Christmas for their eight-day climb up Kilimanjaro who are all are committed not only to reaching Kilimanjaro's summit but raising money for NCCC. They are on target for raising close to $40,000!
David's House
Their Mission:"David's House is the dream of a little boy named David Cyr who passed away at age five after a three-and-a-half-year struggle against acute lymphatic leukemia. Built so that families can remain together when it is most crucial, David's House provides a home-away-from-home and support for families with children receiving treatment through the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center."
Ways to help:
Bake, cook, answer phones, check guests in and out, chat
with families, participate in events, make quilts, and do everything
possible to bring a little sunshine into our guests' lives.
Northern Stage
Their Mission: "Northern Stage is an award-winning, fully professional regional theater company that operates under a LORT-D contract with Actors’ Equity Association and also maintains contractual relationships with the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and United Scenic Artists, Local USA-829 of IATSE."
The Hanover Improvement Society
Their mission: "The primary mission of the Hanover Improvement Society (a non-profit
501(3)c corporation) is to: identify, evaluate, and support
opportunities to quietly maintain and improve the Hanover community, by
the funding of “good works” projects.The sources of funding include revenue from the operation of the Nugget Theaters, James W Campion III Ice Skating Rink, Storrs Pond Recreation Area, rental properties, investments, and private
contributions.
Their Mission: "We provide conservation leadership,
tools and expertise to permanently protect the working farms, forested ridges,
wildlife habitat, water resources, trails and scenic landscapes that surround
residential areas and commercial centers and make the Upper Valley a truly
special place to live. We work with local conservation commissions and volunteer
groups to identify and prioritize land conservation opportunities. We provide
technical assistance and conservation solutions for landowners. We steward
permanent agreements that conserve key properties forever."
