Laconia Pumpkin Festival

In late October, downtown Laconia is a dazzling sight. Festival goers come from all over the Lakes Region and beyond to add their carved pumpkin masterpieces to the 35-foot pyramid, which numbered nearly 1,000 glittering pumpkins in 2015! The New Hampshire Pumpkin Festival is a one-day, community-hosted, family-friendly celebration of fall and all that is unique about the Granite State. It’s a celebration of artistry and creativity—and all things pumpkin! Don’t miss out on the fun from 10am to 8:30pm!

Riverview Farm in Plainfield

Riverview Farm offers apple picking and a pumpkin patch, as well as a family-friendly corn maze. Each year Riverview creates a one-of-a-kind maze for kids of all ages to navigate, with a different theme of riddles and puzzles to help you find your way out. Gary Hamel is a local artist whose works have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the country, and Riverview Farm is lucky to have his skills at their disposal for this fun and unique activity. Plan to visit the farm and enjoy all that it offers now to October 30. Then, for older kids and adults, plan to return for the Haunted Corn Maze beginning October 30 and 31 from 7 to 9 pm! Admission is $7 and you should bring your own flashlight, but leave your costume at home. “Chainsaw Man” is waiting for those who dare!

32nd Annual Harvest Weekend at Billings Farm & Museum

Each day a traditional husking bee will begin at noon, followed by a barn dance from 1 to 4pm. Lend a hand pressing cider, preserving apples, threshing grain, and making butter and ice cream. Harvesting the heirloom vegetable garden will be nearing completion, and children can help dig potatoes and other root crops, and learn how crops are “put up” for the winter. Other activities include shelling beans, fence building, apples-on-a-string, and 19th century games. Hot-spiced cider and homemade doughnuts will be on hand for all! Admission includes all programs and activities: adults, $14; age 62 and over, $13; children 5–15, $8; ages 3 and 4, $4; and those under 3, free.
