Celebrate Fat Tuesday with a Tasty Mardi Gras Cooking Demo at the Co-op

Let the good times roll on Tuesday evening, February 28, when The Co-op Food Store’s Culinary Learning Center in Lebanon celebrates Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras cooking demonstration. You’ll get to watch the preparation of (and then get to taste!) some traditional New Orleans dishes like étouffée, dirty rice, and bread pudding with whiskey sauce, served with a NOLA beer. This will be a fun way to indulge your appetite one more time before the start of Lent.
Along with seasonal culinary demonstrations like Mardi Gras, the Co-op Culinary Learning Center offers classes with hands-on cooking opportunities. In March, you can learn to make hand pies, cake pops, and St. Patrick’s Day Dinner, just to name a few. You can also attend demos on Indian cooking, tropical dishes, and Italian wedding soup. (A complete schedule can be found at coopfoodstore.coop.)
There are also kid-friendly classes such as Breakfast in Under 10 Minutes on March 4 and Jr. Chef Mexican Fiesta for teens on March 12. A monthly Family Cook Night allows the entire family to prepare a meal together—nothing too fancy, so everyone no matter what age can participate. Then everyone sits down to enjoy the results. Class size is limited to four families, and the fee includes four family members. There is an additional fee per extra family member.
You
can register for classes online, by phone at (603) 643-2667, or at the Lebanon
or Hanover service desks. Payment is required at registration and varies from around
$10 to $65 depending on the class and co-op membership. (Some kids’ classes are
free.)
