Learn to Make a Mother’s Day Breakfast at The Coop
May 08, 2017 05:59PM ● By Linda DitchOn Friday May 12, Co-op Food Educator Lindsay Smith and her mom Nancy, who owns Shaker Hill Bed & Breakfast, will teach a Mother’s Day Breakfast class to get you ready for Sunday. They will show you how to assemble a special breakfast for your special mom. The menu will be blueberry scones, poached pears, and a rolled omelet.
Lindsay Smith is a lifelong supporter of local, sustainable agriculture and seasonal eating. Her mom Nancy has a lot of experience serving guests a homemade breakfast at her bed and breakfast in Enfield. She also hosts afternoon tea and keeps a cookie jar filled for guests to raid anytime. Like her daughter, she uses as many local ingredients as possible.
Along with seasonal culinary demonstrations like this one, the Co-op Culinary Learning Center also offers classes with hands-on cooking opportunities. In May, you can learn to make sushi rolls and chateau gateaux (French desserts).
In addition, you can attend demos on a variety of topics, such as springtime and diabetes dishes, making chocolate soufflé, and cooking with rhubarb and fiddlehead ferns. And if you have a junior chef in the family, consider signing him or her up for one of the summer cooking camps. (A complete schedule can be found at coopfoodstore.coop.)
You can register for classes online, by phone at (603) 643-2667, or at the Lebanon or Hanover Co-op Market service desks. Payment is required at registration. (Some kids’ classes are free.)
