Late-Season Cross-Country Skiing Trails Around Hanover (There's Still Time)
Mar 30, 2018 06:04PM ● By Linda DitchFor you die-hard cross-country skiers, there are still trails open as the season begins to draw to a close. Conditions vary widely depending on where you plan to ski, which means you need to scope locales out before you leave home.
In Hanover, the Oak Hill Touring Center is closed for the season. However, they will continue to groom the trails as long as conditions allow. You’ll need your own equipment since no rentals are available. Occom Pond is closed as well. You can keep track of what trails are open at http://outdoors.dartmouth.edu/services/xc_ski_center.html.
Across the border, the Nordic trails at The Woodstock Inn & Resort (Mt. Peg) are also seeing variable conditions. You will find some bare and icy patches on some of the trails, while others are being groomed if conditions allow. The rental shop is closing April 1. You can check all of the trail conditions at http://www.trailhub.org/usa/vermont/green-mountains/woodstock/nordic-at-backcountry/woodstock-inn/trails/MjE5/0.
Some of the smaller trails in the area are closed for the season, while others are still going strong. In other words, typical late-season variations are the rule. As long as you do a little research before you go, you can still enjoy a few more trips on the trails before warmer weather ends your winter fun.
Where do you go to get your last of the winter season cross coutnry skiing on?
