Join the fight against hunger by participating in the annual Step Up, Stop Hunger Meals on Wheels Walkathon this Saturday at 9 am. The route begins at the Upper Valley Senior Center in Lebanon and will go through fields and along the river trail at the Witherell Center, CCBA, and in town. You can participate in either the 1-mile or 3-mile (5k) walk and enjoy the fun family events, booths, rest stops, snacks, and beverages along the way. The first 200 walkers will receive a special T-shirt to wear for the event.

The Upper Valley Senior Center was the first of its kind following the incorporation of the Grafton County Senior Citizens Council in 1972. Since it opened in 1973, the full-service center has become a hub of activity for area seniors. Besides delivering meals to seniors Monday through Friday (with frozen meals for the weekend), visitors to the center can gather for lunch each day. They can also participate in special programming, such as book clubs, guest speakers, bus trips, entertainment, exercise classes, computer lab, health clinics, and much more.  A small food shelf is also located at the center.

Meals on Wheels offers more than just a way for homebound seniors to avoid hunger. Besides providing food, volunteers also conduct safety checks and report any health or environmental changes or crises they observe during a delivery.
