7 Spots for a Stress-free Thanksgiving in The Upper Valley

The Common Man
The Common Man Restaurant group of restaurants is delivering fully catered, hot meals this Thanksgiving Day. Order between Nov. 1 and 16 to guarantee availability, plus receive a white chocolate surprise for dessert! Each serving includes oven-roasted turkey breast with homemade pan gravy, country mashed potatoes, signature stuffing, maple-roasted butternut squash, whole berry cranberry sauce, green beans with almonds, dinner rolls and butter, sweet bread, and a slice of pumpkin pie with cinnamon cream. If you’re not in Claremont, these other locations will also accommodate Lincoln, Concord, Merrimack, Windham, Foster’s Boiler Room, and Lakehouse.
Latham House Tavern
Come on in for either the 12:30 or 3 p.m. sitting for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner event at the Latham House Tavern. Your first course includes freshly baked breads and whipped butter alongside curry-roasted, local butternut squash and apple bisque or slow-roasted local beet salad. That’s followed by a traditional turkey dinner, served family style, slow-roasted sugar pumpkin gnocchi, seared Maine diver scallops, or slow-cooked Robie Farms beef stew, as the main course. Finally, for dessert, your options are a choice of apple, pumpkin, pecan, cranberry-pear almond, or flourless chocolate torte homemade pie, served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
Billings Farm & Museum
If you’ve already got plans on Thanksgiving Day, but love the holiday so much that you want to come back for seconds, check out Billings Farm & Museum Thanksgiving Weekend event, which takes place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, immediately following the holiday. There, you can discover how Thanksgiving was observed in the 1890 farmhouse at Billings Farm. There are holiday programs and activities, as well as wagon rides.
Woodstock Inn & Resort
Each year, The Woodstock Inn & Resort hosts a Thanksgiving buffet at Richardson’s Tavern and the Rockefeller Room. Each meal includes roasted Misty Knoll Farms turkey, maple-glazed sweet potatoes, as well as many of the other normal Thanksgiving Dinner fixings.
Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Another yearly tradition in the Upper Valley, Sacred Heart Catholic Church hosts Thanksgiving Dinner starting at noon in the church hall. Those interested in volunteering for the event (meal preparation, serving, cleanup, or delivery) can contact the church office. Cooks can pick up turkeys after mass and return them fully prepared the day before the event.
The Norwich Inn
Chef Scott Liberty and his team are getting ready to prepare a memorable feast for guests of The Norwich Inn this year. There are seatings at noon and 5 p.m., and a special children’s menu is available upon request. First-course appetizer choices include a field green salad or butternut squash bisque. The entrée choices are sage-roasted, Stonewood Farm turkey, pan-seared, line-caught halibut, herb-roasted, certified, Black Angus prime rib, or roasted vegetables en crute. Dessert is also included.
Co-op Food Stores
Pre-order your fully prepared Thanksgiving meal prior to Nov. 16 for pickup on Nov. 20-21 at The Co-op Food Stores this year. There are plenty of menu options and packages, which include the traditional, whole feast, seasonal dips and side dishes, and choices of proteins, sauces, and stuffing.
