While the name change officially occurred in mid-August, it appeared the salon began preparing for the transformation earlier in the year, as it started using the “#mavenstyle” hashtag toward the end of March in its social media postings. The switch was ironclad by the end of September, with the company’s website and social media pages changing names and branding and promoting the new name. Finally, a rebrand party was held in early November to celebrate.

Officially branded as “maven substance + style” in its logo, the salon still features 18 employees, including 12 dedicated stylists. These stylists, along with colorists and estheticians are among the top creative talents in New England and committed to providing customers with the best possible salon experience. As a result of this type of customer care, the salon has consistently won awards year over year, including “Best Salon in the Upper Valley” for five years straight.

Maven has always been and remains centrally located at 34 S. Main St. in Hanover, just around the corner from Dartmouth, serving the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont.

The staff at Maven prides itself on being hip and contemporary, providing an upbeat, fun atmosphere. Offerings and services include the latest in color and cuts, waxing, specialty Zoya pedicures, facials, body treatments, and more. Prices for each service vary by the level of experience of the stylist, ranging from a 2 (starting at $50 for a women’s cut and $31 for a men’s cut) to a 6 (starting at $70 for a women’s cut and $39 for a men’s cut).

They also feature a robust line of products for sale within the shop, such as Bumble and Bumble, Kerastase, Surface, Glo Minerals, Pevonia Skin Care, and Zoya Nails.

Maven is open Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday hours vary by season. From October to May, Maven is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from June to September. The shop is always closed on Sundays.
