Dewey is one of two Hanover High School therapy dogs, and has been for over 5 years. Dewey has provided support to any and all students that needed it, and now they are returning the favor by helping him recover. 

In late September of 2019, a blood clot viciously went after Dewey's spine. He has been in full recovery mode ever since, and students have been stepping up to help with his physical therapy. 

Canine physical therapist Judy Coates is their advisor, and has given them a series of exercises that Dewey needs to rebuild mobility, especially in his paws. She also advises them to press on his rear-back to stimulate blood flow, among many other movements, every morning. 

Thankfully, there has been no shortage of students willing to pitch in and visit Dewey. And Dewey is happy to receive the attention -- and treats, of course! 

His progress is getting better each day. He was completely paralyzed on his right side and was barely able to walk, but now is slowly moving, the encouragement of the children helping him heal. 

Hanover High School staff and students are happy to have Dewey back and recovering!
