4th Annual Duck Drop Will Be A Virtual Event This Year

Oct 06, 2020 01:36PM ● By Kaitlyn Malone
The 4th annual Virtual Mt. Sunapee duck Drop will take place this year on Saturday, October 10th. It will be a fun way to stay engaged and support the community! Luckily we can still contribute this year by participating in this virtual event even though we won’t be there in person. All proceeds go to the expansion of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. This year's Duck Drop is presented by Northcape Design-Build and partnering with Mount Sunapee Resort.

The Tradition

The Duck Drop is a tradition that began four years ago to make an impact and give back to the kids. It has been a very creative and quirky event that brings awareness and raises funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Central New Hampshire. Traditionally the Duck Drop is done where you purchase; however, many small, yellow, toy ducks you desire and take them with you as you ride the ski lift up the mountain. While you ride the chair lift up and down, you try to drop your ducks into the targets placed below you. Sometimes the targets are a type of bin, and other times they are more of a bullseye-style in which case you try to get your duck to land as close to the center as you can. The companies' targets are provided in the area, and the winner of each target will receive a prize! If the target is more of a bin, then one duck will be pulled at random and win that prize. If there are no ducks in the bin, then the closest duck wins.

What It’s For

Your contribution goes to help the Boys and Girls club continue their mission to inspire young people and help them reach their full potential. This non-profit organization nurtures kids into becoming responsible and caring citizens. It fuels these kids with over 22,000 snacks and hot dinners. They provide 47 different programs and activities and establish a safe place for children to go between school and home. They also assist financially with afterschool programs and camps and ensure staff is trained to provide the best support. It is an excellent cause to give your time and energy to, especially for your local clubs of Central New Hampshire.

This Year

Although this year will be slightly different as it is a virtual Duck Drop event, it promises to be fun and rewarding! It will be more like a raffle, and those are a hoot! Or a “quack,” if you will :). It will begin at noon on Saturday, October 10th streaming LIVE at @nhduckdrop, and the winners will be announced LIVE at 1:00 pm if you are not able to attend the LIVE event, no need to fret because you’ll be able to see it aired later in the week on local TV on YCN. All of the Duck Drop champions will be notified directly, and winners will also be posted on all social media outlets. To purchase your ducks, donate, or become a sponsor, go to www.nhduckdrop.com.
