6 Places to Cut Down Your Perfect Christmas Tree

Dec 10, 2023 11:46PM ● By Elise Renaud
The Christmas season is upon us. With this comes shopping for gifts, spending time with loved ones, and putting up decorations. While many put a Christmas tree up early in November, others wait until the last minute. If you like a real, genuine tree to decorate this season, we’ve created a list of places to check out.

Nichols Trees

Nichols Trees has two locations in Lyme and West Lebanon, NH. Visitors can choose and cut their own tree or tag a tree and come back to cut it later. Prices for Balsam Fir and Fraser Fir range from $25 to $110 depending on size. Both locations are open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Balsam Ridge Tree Farm

Balsam Ridge Tree Farm offers Balsam Fir, Frasier Fir, Concolor Fir, White Pine, Red Pine, Scotch Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, and a limited selection of exotic evergreens. Visitors are encouraged to wander through the tree farm in snowy or dry weather to experience the appealing colors and aromas.

Hidden Field Fir Farm

Hidden Field Fir Farm is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Christmas Eve (while supplies last). The company posted on Facebook saying that this is its last year in operation. You’ll want to make sure to not miss your chance to have one of their beautiful trees be the centerpiece of your decorations.

Visitors are asked to bring their saw, except gas or electric chain saws due to insurance requirements. The farm does have some saws on hand as well.

Payments remain cash or check only.

Bakersfield Tree Farm

The Bakersfield Tree Farm is open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Christmas Eve. In addition to trees, the farm offers hand-bind wreaths in a variety of sizes, shapes, and decorations. For more information, call 802-827-3042.

Glove Hollow Christmas Tree Farm

In central New Hampshire, the Glove Hollow Christmas Tree Farm offers a full day of activities for the whole family to enjoy while picking out their Christmas tree. From hayrides to friendly goats, there’s something for everyone. The farm is open from Mondays through Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekend. The last day to get a tree is on Christmas Eve from 8 a.m. to noon.

Werner Tree Farm

The Werner Tree Farm is a family-run business that offers Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, maple syrup, honey, Shropshire sheep, and hay. The farm is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends. Cut your own trees ends at 4 p.m.
