Nov 19, 2024 08:47PM ● By Elise Renaud

The holiday season is nearly upon us. If you’re looking to spread holiday cheer and give back, there are many options available in the Upper Valley. Here are five ways to consider:

Donate To A Church Or Charity

If you’re busy and still want to give back, an easy way to help those in need is by donating to a church or charity. There are many to choose from. Consider something that you’re passionate about or something that you have noticed could use a boost in funding.

Volunteer at the LISTEN Center

The LISTEN Center needs volunteers for the food pantry, in the dinner hall, and in the thrift stores. Learn more about how you can get involved here.

Willing Hands

There are many volunteer opportunities with Willing Hands in the Upper Valley.

“Willing Hands recovers fresh food from farms, grocery stores, restaurants and wholesalers, and delivers it year-round, for free, to 80 social service organizations across the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire,” the website said.

David’s House

David’s House “provides a home-away-from-home and support for families with children receiving treatment through Dartmouth Health Children’s Hospital,” the website said. It has a small staff that is supported by volunteers. Volunteers help with cooking, playroom support, grounds keeping, and more. Learn more about how you can volunteer here.

Maynard House

Maynard House needs volunteers to help provide adult patients and their families a place to stay and relax away from the stressful hospital routine. Volunteer opportunities include cooking and baking, painting projects, weekend front desk support, small maintenance projects, and more. Learn more here.
