Over the past 200 years, the Hanover Inn has had some prominent guests walk its halls.
Future Vermont Supreme Court judge James Barrett stayed at the inn, which at the time was called the Dartmouth Hotel. He checked on January 19, 1843. Learn more about his stay here.
In December 1841, George William Frederick Howard, the future 7th Earl of Carlisle, stayed at the inn while traveling North America on a year-long visit. According to the website, he arrived in Hanover with four horses and signed the guest ledger of the Dartmouth Hotel. See the ledger here.
