Friday, March 14 is the first day of Holi, a two-day Hindu festival that marks the end of winter. According to the BBC, it “also celebrates the Hindu god Krishna and the legend of Holika and Prahlad.”

The festival features lots of color, celebrations and fun. The first night of Holi includes lighting bonfires and throwing roasting grains, popcorn, coconut and chickpeas into the flames. The BBC said the next day, “people of all ages go into the streets for fun and paint-throwing.”

Anyone looking to celebrate is encouraged to get together with friends, make some sweets, and embrass the color.
