Seven Must-Visit Breweries and Wineries In & Near The Upper Valley

With the Upper Valley Beer Trail, the New Hampshire Brewers Association and the American Wine Guide, there is no shortage of locally crafted beer and wine to choose from. While shopping at your local store or bar, visiting where they are made and bottled adds to the experience.

Here are some breweries and wineries to visit this fall.

 

BREWERIES

Good Measure Pub and Brewery

Located in Northfield, VT, Good Measure Pub and Brewery is a 7 barrel brewpub.

“We focus on a variety of beer styles with a heavy lean towards nostalgic beers of the past including English, Belgian and American Styles. We aim to have something for everyone,” the website said.

The food menu offers items like wings, smash burgers, sandwiches, and more.

The pub and brewery is open seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Learn more here.


Jasper Murdock Ales

Located in Norwich, VT, Jasper Murdock Ales has a deep rooted history and today’s brewers work to keep it alive. The beer is sold at the Norwich Inn and is sold by the 22 ounce bottle, by the case, the 5 gallon keg and growlers.

The Flying Goose Brewpub and Grille

Located in New London, NH, The Flying Goose Brewpub and Grille offers a variety of seasonal beers that you don’t want to miss the opportunity to try.

“Most of our brews are available to take home in 32oz or 64oz Growlers. We also sell limited edition beers in 22oz. bomber bottles and have recently began experimenting with canning,” the website said.

WINERIES

Snow Farm Vineyard

Located in Quechee, VT, Snow Farm Vineyard is on an island in the middle of Lake Champlain. The vineyard says it is similar ot the Burgundy region in France.

“This allows us to grow cooler climate vinifera grapes, such as Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc and Riesling to make into white wine. As well as our extensive reds including Leon Millot, Baco Noir, and many of our winemaker’s unique blends,” the website said.

Sweet Baby Vineyard

Sweet Baby Vineyard in Hampstead, NH, is a family business that started as a hobby. The vineyard offers red, white, and fruit wines.

“Each season we take the kids to the local farms to pick strawberries, blueberries, peaches and apples. We decided to bring these fresh fruits grown at our local farms to our wine. We also turned part of our land into a vineyard, which yields four varieties of the grapes we use in our wine,” the website said.

Coffin Cellars Winery

Located in Webster, NH, Coffin Cellars Winery that specializes in wines made from fruits and berries and over the years rotates 15 varieties. Reservations are required for tastings, which are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. May through December.

Located in White River Junction, VT, Putnam's Vine/Yard has an ever-changing menu that highlights local Upper Valley products and farmers. In addition, it has a wine school and vine school. Learn more about what is offered here
